Background

Domesticity was founded in 2006 by Jon Lane-Smith to create homewares which combine style and wit with practicality. Since graduating in Product Design at Kingston University, Jon went on to work on projects in several areas including furniture, interiors and graphic design.

It was whilst working for others that he began to develop ideas to put into production himself. The ‘Shed’ coat hook was the first product to be realised and make it to the shelves, gaining huge amounts of press attention and attracting award winning recognition from Blueprint Magazine, 100% Design and Hidden Art.

The Domesticity collection is continuing to expand, bringing well designed and affordable products to an ever increasing audience. As well as developing new products for his own brand Jon continues to work as a freelance designer with recent clients including Habitat and Gap.
